Meaning of Counting
Counting is an action in which the number of elements are found in a finite set of objects. There are various forms of Counting. Counting can be in form of Finger Count, Verbal, in form of Tally Marks. Finger Counting is usually for counting small numbers. Older finger counting used the four fingers and the three bones in each finger known as phalanges to count to the number twelve on one hand and twenty-four on both hands. The other Finger counting is by using Unary Notation which states one finger= one count and is thus limited to counting 10.

Learning to count is an important educational/developmental milestone in almost all cultures of the world. It is no doubt the first step into Mathematics and constitutes the most fundamental area of that field.
